Gayatri's subtle powers are infinite; Innumerable; Sahasra Nama Stotram is the mantra hymn that sums up this innumerable energy and conveys it to the human mind.

The word sahasra is used in the sense of infinite. A thousand in essence. But elsewhere the word thousand is used to refer to an infinite number. Lord's prayer is 'Sahasrasirsha'. In this prayer, God is said to be 'Sahasrabaha, Sahasrapada, Sahasranetra'. Here the meaning of Sahasrat is infinite.

Sahasra Naam is the mantras chanted by a Rishi to attain human beings within a thousand states experienced through his penance of limitless potencies.

Through Guruparamparai we have got two Sahasra names describing the infinite powers of Goddess Gayatri.

1) Akarathi Kshakaranta Sahasra Namavali in Devibhagavata - It was consecrated by Brahma. this sadhana will expand the VinjGnanamaya Kosha.

2) Tadkara Sahasra Naam in Rudyamala Tantra – This is a tantra sadhana given by Bhairava Rishi.

On this Navratri the Akarathi Kshakaranta Sahasra Nama Sadhana was taught by Sri Sakti Sumanan with visualisaton techniques.

Sri Narayana Rishi tells Sri Naratha Rishi in Devi Bhagavat that the result of this Sahasra Nama achievement is as follows.

1. Destroy all sins and can also give all great wealth
2. O Narada, these are a thousand names of Goddess Gayatri.
3. Bestows virtue destroys all sins, and bestows great wealth. 156
4.  Thus a thousand names of Gayatri can remove all doshas. On Ashtami, this mantra should be chanted along with a Guru. 157
5. This should be said to a good devotee and a good disciple. It should not be said out of affection to miscreants or relatives. 159
6. It is secret and secret; The highest great achievement.
7. By accomplishing this sadhana the common man becomes qualified to do higher things.
